Chemical Peel

What is a chemical peel?

Chemical peels, or medical grade glycolic peels, is one of the oldest methods of skin care known. Since the time of the Ancient Egyptians, peels have been used to get smoother and more beautiful skin. Today they remain popular because patients often see near immediate results.

Chemical peels can be performed on the face, hands or neck. A chemical solution, usually a mix of naturally exfoliating acids like BHA and AHA, is applied by a certified technician from Defy Nature. Once the chemical solution has fully affected the skin, the old skin at the treatment area begins to peel off. A chemical peel removes a layer of rough, uneven top skin to reveal smoother, younger-looking, and more evenly toned skin.

While most patients see results almost instantly after their first treatment, 2 to 3 treatments are recommended to get the full effects of a chemical peel.

What are chemical peels used to treat?

Chemical peels can be used to treat a number of common skin problems, such as:

  • Uneven skin tone
  • Fine wrinkles around the mouth or nose
  • Moderate scars
  • Treatment of certain types of acne and facial blemishes
  • The overall look and feel of skin

A chemical peel may even help improve those with skin problems such as:

  • Dry patches of skin
  • Uneven skin pigmentation
  • Skin discoloration
  • Sun damage and signs of aging

How long do results last?

Depending on the patient, their skin type, and previous medical history. Many patients who receive a chemical peel report seeing results for months or even years after their initial treatment.
